Natural Systems, a multilingual B2B e-commerce with catalogue, customer area and real-time SAP Business One integration

Where we started

Natural Systems sells to shops and distributors, not to consumers, and its entire catalogue lives in SAP Business One. Showing the products was never the hard part. Making the shop and the ERP tell the same story at the same moment was.

A professional buyer arrives knowing what they want. They expect to see their price and their discount rather than the list price, to know whether the stock is really there, to repeat last month's order in two clicks and to download the invoice without picking up the phone.

KOMIT's solution

• A B2B e-commerce built from scratch, with catalogue, search, filters and a checkout designed for someone buying thirty product lines at once, not one.
• A customer area covering orders, quotes, delivery notes, invoices, returns and credit status, fed live from the ERP.
• SAP Business One integration through Service Layer and SAP HANA: price lists, per-customer terms, stock and documents all come from the ERP. There is no second copy of the catalogue to keep in sync by hand.
• Four languages — Spanish, English, French and German — one domain per market, correct hreflang and no language prefix in the URL.

How we built it

• We started from the actual sales process rather than the catalogue: what a distributor needs to see in order to place an order, and in what order. The storefront followed from that.
• We put our own API between the website and SAP, so the ERP is never exposed and so we can cache what does not change without giving up live price and stock lookups.
• The site was rebuilt on Next.js and React with server-side rendering, so a catalogue of thousands of references stays crawlable and instant.
• It is a relationship that began in 2020 and is still running: each version of the platform has absorbed processes that used to happen outside the website.
