Newlite, a four-language technical lighting catalogue migrated off WordPress without losing its rankings

Newlite manufactures professional horticulture lighting — LED, high pressure sodium and ceramic metal halide — from Córdoba, Spain, with in-house R&D and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification.

Newlite

Where we started

Newlite had been on WordPress for years. The site worked, but the catalogue had become awkward to maintain, the pages were heavy, and adding a fourth language through a translation plugin meant paying an ever-growing toll.

The brief came with one non-negotiable condition: the site sells to a technical buyer who arrives searching by specification, and its international rankings could not be put at risk. A migration that loses indexed URLs is a failed migration, however quick it was.

KOMIT's solution

  • Corporate site and custom catalogue rebuilt on Next.js and React, with a page per product, full specifications and datasheet download.
  • Four real languages — English, Spanish, French and German — with hreflang between versions and content the client manages themselves.
  • A technical blog with its own structured data and sitemap, because in this sector the article explaining how to choose a spectrum brings as much qualified traffic as the product page.
  • A "Request your lighting plan" form: the goal is not to sell on the website, it is to capture the project so an engineer can size it.

How we built it

  • Before writing a line we inventoried every URL on the old site and mapped them one by one with 301 redirects. No ranking earned over the years was left without a destination.
  • Content is served from our own cached API: the client publishes and the site updates itself, with nothing to wait for and nothing to redeploy.
  • Images are converted and served optimised, which is where the previous WordPress lost most of its speed.
